so, about the work.
Every picture starts as a photograph and ends somewhere the photograph could not go. Some were painted once. Some five times over, by five traditions, from the same negative.

No overlay, tint or vignette ever touches a plate. Every mark on this page sits in the ground, the margin or the mount.
Every picture here starts as a photograph, put through generative image tools with a written instruction. What comes out is a reinterpretation in some painting tradition. The instruction and the settings are kept and published with each piece, so the record is complete rather than flattering.
The source photographs are licensed stock, mostly from Pexels, and a few are mine. None of the pictures are sold, licensed or printed. This is an archive, not a shop.
Some of the pieces are of people — strangers, photographed by someone else and licensed for reuse. The paintings are not portraits of anyone in particular; the person is the starting point, not the subject. Even so: if you appear in one of these and would rather not, write to rights@ossorys.art and it will come down. No explanation needed. The same address works for photographers.
