La Paz was named for a peace between conquistadors that was really one side winning, and the name has outlasted everything else. An anthem for the whole bowl: the backwards clock on the congress, the palace called Burnt, the zebras at the crossings, the cable cars strung across the canyon, and a rim that has twice come down on the city.
