ossory

Two voices, an oud and a wall of hand drums walk the length of Dubai Creek, tracing the city from eight hundred people on a saltwater inlet in 1833 through pearling's collapse to a laboratory in Japan, a tax exemption that imported a merchant class, a dredging everyone called madness, and a tower once mocked in empty sand that now sits on the hundred-dirham note. Every fact is true, and neither singer winks.

L9 The Local Anthems World (Khaleeji folk-rock fusion - oud and hand percussion over a rock kit)

We Dug a Hole in the Water

Style

Fast Gulf folk-rock fusion at 146 BPM in driving 4/4 with a 6/8 lilt in the breaks; oud and mid-gain guitar runs, buzuq fills, a low frame drum, darbuka and hard handclaps, with equally traded male and female Emirati-accented leads delivered in a plain, hard, unornamented rock style.
