Charles Vane tore down the King's colours at Nassau, spat on the royal pardon, and sent a blazing fireship at the Navy rather than surrender -- so naturally his own crew voted him out for cowardice, a hurricane wrecked him, and an old acquaintance recognised him over dinner.

Knew When To Run

Style

A rousing sea shanty fused with light folk-metal at a two-gear tempo, a swaying capstan shanty near 100 BPM driving into heavier passages around 148, led by a gruff weathered male shantyman answered by a large ragged crew in fists-up gang-vocal call-and-response, built on accordion, concertina, fiddle, bodhran and boot-stomps over a driving rock kit and crunchy distorted guitars, with a half-time breakdown turning the crew's cheer to a snarl.
