Cape Town gets a fast Cape Jazz and goema carnival anthem sung by two leads sharing every verse, a Kaaps voice off the Cape Flats and an isiXhosa voice from the townships. Ghoema drums, brass and hand-claps carry the city's own history straight: a garden planted for passing ships, a hedge grown to keep people out, a freeway that stops in the sky, and a district that was never rebuilt.
